Change Your Words, Change Your Life

Your words direct where you go in life. Think about where you are in life right now, your job, your relationships, your family, your money, your health…. Are you happy with where you are?  Where you are is directed related to what you’ve said.

Your words ———–> Your direction ———-> Your future

Change your words, change your life.

“The tongue is like a rudder of a ship.  It setting on fire the entire course of life.” – paraphrased from James 3.

But is it really possible to control our tongues?  Of course not.  But with the help of God, we can get a new heart and that will change the way we speak.

“And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.” – Ezekiel 36:26

James 1:19 says that one should be “quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger” and how our spirits can be put to death because of the deeds of our bodies.  I will ponder on the truth of God’s words and if I don’t know what to say in a situation, I just need to repeat God’s living words.

Practice THINKing before you speak:

T: Is it truthful?

H: Is it helpful?

I: Is it inspirational?

N: Is it necessary?

K: Is it kind?

Did you know?

Negative words hurt people physically.  When you walk into the office and the first thing you say to your co-worker is “The boss just added my workload.  He’s so inconsiderate and selfish.”  When you use negative words, you are hurting your co-worker, PHYSICALLY, even though you are not even talking about your co-worker.  It takes the body 72 hours to get rid of the poison generated from those negative words. WOW.

Recently, I read an article on 7 Simple Tips To Deal With Negative People.  This article really illustrates how draining it is to be with a person of negative comments.  Take a look.

The THINK principle is a great way for you to really think about what you have to say. There are better things to talk about than others.  Let all the words that come out of your mouth be those things.  Let your words be positive and encourage one another.
