Tithe Your Way Into $Financial Freedom$

The Bottom Line: Do you trust God?

Do you believe that if you obey God, he will help you obtain financial freedom?

Tithing is an act of trust and obeidiance.

Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need. – Malachi 3:10

God will give you back so much more than you give him.  God will bless you in ways that you can’t even imagine.  Trust God will do good things with your money and bless you financially abundantly in return.  Tithing will hlep you establish your priorities in life.

Traditionally, the tithe (produce or money) is given to the church and the church leaders redistribute it to people in need.  The church is the body of Christ.  Some goes towards running the church and some goes towards helping those in need.  Like my pastor always say, “You don’t give to a church, you give through a church.”

Today, there is the option to donate directly to an organization, to support a cause you believe in.  It’s essential that the organization’s values are aligned with God’s will.  I donate some of my money to the Christian Child’s Fund of Canada, to help sponsor a child in need.  But I believe in tithing most of my money to the church, because I recieve so much from them.  The church offers me a community and support.  The staff and volunteers at my church all work very hard as well.

It’s important to give God the first 10%, not the last 10% in case you can not overcome temptation and spend it.  For example, setting up an automatic payment to your church can be a good idea.

Be careful not to be prideful or judgemental when you tithe.  Being proud of tithing is like being proud that you haven’t killed anyone yet.  Know the difference between tithing and offering.

Tithing is giving to God what belongs to him.  Tithing means giving the first 10% of your income to God.

“Every tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the trees, is the Lord’s; it is holy to the Lord.” –  Leviticus 27:30

Offering is giving more beyond what is required. It’s like a gift.

Jesus metions the holiness of tithing when he said, “But woe to you Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and every herb, and neglect justice and the love of God. These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. Luke 11:42

Debates about Tithing:

Here is my view.  Tithing is a Biblical practise as mention in the Old Testament and the New Testament (proof above).  Tithe should be practised by Christians because it shows our love for the church (the body of Christ) and “the poor and needy”.  If it is align with God’s word, then we should do it.
