10 New Ways To Be Thankful

I am Canadian and it is Canadian Thanksgiving.

So Happy Thanksgivings, eh?

Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,

for his steadfast love endures forever! – Psalm 107:1

At Thanksgiving, people talk about what they are thankful for.  But our thankful spirits don’t last very long past thanksgiving. So I thought up some creative ways to be thankful this year (because it’s not just about giving thanks, but about giving).

Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God. – Hebrews 13:16

  1. Having a photo record of what you are thankful for, post them on Facebook.
  2. Give left overs to the homeless and hungry (Do you really need all that food? Are you really going to eat ALL of the leftover turkey?)
  3. Write a list of things you are thankful for, but you don’t have yet (e.g. a future bride, or that big vacation you’ve been waiting for). Thank God for those things of the future.
  4. Create a spectacular memory (do something adventurous).
  5. Thankful for Jesus? Share it on a social media.
  6. Invite somebody without family to your Thanksgiving dinner.
  7. Have a minimalistic or vegetarian Thanksgiving dinner (no waste, no killing).
  8. Start a new family tradition (invent your own Thanksgiving family prayer).
  9. Share the love. Sponsor a child in need.
  10. Write your pastor a Thankyou note.

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. – 1 Thessalonian 5:16-18
